From the first note of the first song, White Leather takes off like a runaway missile and doesn’t slow down. Alexander’s razor-sharp melodies weave in between Harley’s squealing licks to mesmerizing effect, while Pat’s hammer-like fingers slink up and down the fretboard. And all the while Jared is pounding away, bringing it home.
The opening track, “O’Well”, sets the fiery tempo of the EP properly, conjuring up images of smoke stacks and a not-so-far-off dystopian future. “White Leather” is a twisted interpretation of Poe’s ‘The Raven’, which opens with stuttering guitar notes and builds up to an epic, raging finale. Following that is “Ave Victor”, a warm-up tune for gladiators. Finally, “Lolita” and “Spanish Harlem”, wrap it up with a dirty blend of Spanish and American styles that conclude in massive style.
The energy on the CD is palpable. On stage, you could cut it with knife. There is no filler, no slow songs, no ballads. Just pure, unbridled rock n’ roll.
